Cluster Development

  • Feasibility Studies

    • Background: Phae have been commissioned to carry out two recent feasibility studies on industry specific clusters.
    • Outcome: Following our recommendations, one of these groups: a small number of food manufacturers, has moved straight into a Collaborative Business Alliance. They have also made significant gains into a number of export markets in South East Asia and the Middle East. The second, a group of engineering companies, is in the process of setting up a specialist engineering cluster that will develop its own set of standards and unique products.
  • New Zealand Trade and Enterprise

    • Background: Funded by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and Absolutely Business Wellington, we were commissioned to develop a generic framework for the collaborative commercialisation of product innovations, market opportunities and venture development.
    • Outcome: The output is a Collaboration Framework and underpinning Commercialisation Toolbox. NZTE have commissioned Phae to utilise the tool in the internationalisation of a high growth client company.
  • Tertiary education sector

    • Background: Phae directed a scoping study into the establishment of an organisation concerned with the collaborative production and delivery of e-education.
    • Outcome: The establishment of e-Learnz Inc, a consortium of three Universities and seven Polytechnics, including participation from the private sector. Phae was then funded by the Ministry of Education and the Tertiary Education Commission to develop a good practice collaboration and development framework. This was underpinned by a suite of collaborative processes and work tools, supported by a legal framework. The tool set was delivered in June 2005.
